Strong Women, Strong Girls 20th Anniversary Campaign

Client
Strong Women, Strong Girls

For two decades, Strong Women, Strong Girls has provided multigenerational mentoring to girls and young women while also building a network of supportive and engaged professional women. The organization has active programs in Boston and Pittsburgh.

The Challenge

Strong Women, Strong Girls (SWSG) was nearing its twentieth anniversary and asked Schick Creative to help mark the occasion as well as stabilize and centralize communications across the organization.

The Solution

In partnership with the CEO and senior leadership team members, Schick Creative defined a number of opportunities to capitalize on the anniversary and to establish internal and constituent communications, including fundraising and special events. Creating a celebratory narrative and robust communications calendar enabled SWSG to position and promote its storytelling long-term.

During the management change that occurred during the course of the engagement, Schick Creative provided strategic and sensitive leadership transition communications that projected both stability and transparency.

20th Anniversary Campaign

  • The strategic plan for the anniversary year crossed two calendar years and included branding, communications, fundraising, and special events.
  • A new organizational logo with the tagline “Celebrating 20 Years” replaced the numerous regional and program logos, helping to standardize branding.
  • A formal, written announcement from the CEO went out across communications channels and to all constituents and stakeholders, including Board members, partners, donors, and program participants.
  • A new content series of SWSG Impact Stories on the blog highlighted the people and programs involved in their outstanding work.
  • The Pittsburgh chapter’s 10th annual SWSG Strong Awards gala leveraged the 20th anniversary milestone to connect with and engage donors, friends, and participants in person.
  • A successful Giving Tuesday and end-of-year fundraising campaign met its financial goals.
  • New branded merchandise, including apparel, tote bags, and more, helped constituents show their support for the organization.

National Communications Campaign

  • Developed organizational and leadership voices for content strategy and communications.
  • The new quarterly email newsletter kept the community up to date with news, events, and stories.
  • The new monthly staff email newsletter provided timely updates and information, as well as shoutouts and fun facts about program cities.
  • New organizational social media channels offered a national perspective and amplified regional channel content.
  • New social media campaigns highlighted SWSG’s afterschool program content, including women role models such as Massachusetts Governor Maura Healy, Academy Award winning costume designer Ruth Carter, and U.S. Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
  • Tailored communications to constituents included program participant parents, college chapter mentors, and professional women (Strong Leaders).
  • An updated email database system refreshed audience segmentation.

“Working with Marie at Schick Creative has been not only a joy, but also peace of mind that our public image is exactly what we want it to be. Our 20th Anniversary year had so many planned and unplanned happenings that had to be shared with our community in a thoughtful, strategic way while aligning with our brand and voice. Marie made sure our marketing and communications stayed consistent, effective, and well-executed through all of it!”
